Sacred Calligraphy
The Art of Calligraphy and Painting as a Spiritual Path
'Revealing the Minds Inner Nature in a brush stroke’
Art of Sacred calligraphy in the `Far Eastern’ cultures of China, Korea and Japan has been a vehicle to develop a direct relationship to `meditation in action’ for a millennium. By mastering the way of the `ink-brush’ we are able to develop a clear, open, present state of mind that is physically revealed in every brush stroke we make.
We will be introduced to a brief history of – ‘the Way of the Brush’, along with hands on techniques of using the Chinese brush as a way to focus, clear and calm the mind in the process of creating a work of art.
The continued practice of calligraphy has been proven over centuries to focus the mind in a visibly observable mirror like way, that only heightens meditative absorption but lowers blood pressure, evokes a state of calm relaxed clear connection to the present.
