Samvad - A Fusion Music Evening, Wed 28 Oct

Samvad
A Fusion Music Evening

941703_661116607248418_1466940446_n

Igino Giovanni Brunori and Virginia Nicoli of Samvad are an innovative musical duo crafting new sounds from ancient materials. Their performances are meditative journeys through a rich landscape of melody and rhythm, using bansuri, silver flute and saxophone and voice. They will be accompanied by a brilliant Pakhawaj player, SukhadMunde.

Samvad’s original compositions are founded on the most rigorous traditions of Indian Classical music, Dhrupad. Together with their teachers, the Gundecha Brothers, they have forged their own musical language in which Raga and Tala remain the core features. In this sense, their music is a fusion and a dynamic expression of these traditional principles, still pulsing with the present.

The exceptional quality of Samvad’s music derives from their attention to sound quality, to micro-tonal detail and to the mysterious dialog between the two. East and West, ancient music and contemporary sounds meet in a new interpretation of tradition and modernity.

*All you beautiful people interested in contact dance improvisation jam are invited to dance/jam alongside this soulful concert!

Full Moon Meditation - Celebrating Our Ancestors, Tue 27 Oct

Celebrating Our Ancestors
Moon, Breath, Heart, Dance,
Song
With Sheela Raj

facebook cover page
We invite you to come together this October Full Moon on a mystical journey!

This is the month where both the east and west come together. In India ancestors are remembered and honored for 15 days before the celebration of Navratras that represent the feminine energy force field. In the west, the ancient Celtic celebration of ‘Samhain’ also happens close to the full moon. This is a sacred moment where we acknowledge and celebrate those who have passed on to other dimensions of spirit.

So this full moon night we will gather at Zorba the Buddha, an oasis in the heart of the bustling metropolis to bear witness together in shared Breath, Dance, Ritual and Song, to our own ancestors as well as those of the human race. We will honor the spirits that have passed and who guide us in more subtle ways. We will also offer gratitude for the Gift of Life and above all the Recognition of Life in Spirit.

Gauri Shankar Meditation with Ashwin Bharti, Sun 25 Oct

Gauri Shankar Meditation
A Centering Technique for the Third-Eye

with Ashwin Bharti

Third-Eye-Pineal-Gland2
Inspired from Lord Shankar (Shiva) and Goddess Gauri (Parvati), this is a soft centering technique for the night time, which works on the third eye. It helps one discover how to become a medium of the whole cosmos. This meditation is a simple way to experience no-mind.

We will begin with some preparatory exercises to bring ourselves into awareness. There will be special breathing from the 112 sutras of the Vigyan Bhairav Tantra, candle gazing and movement (latihan), followed by lying in silence. This is a mysterious and wonderful meditation, where one becomes like a bamboo flute on which the existence plays its songs. Let Lord Shiva bring us to the heights of Mount Gourishankar.

About the Facilitator

Earth Meditation with Chirs Eagle, Wed 14 Oct

Earth Meditation

Healing Our Relationship with Mother Earth
with Chris Eagle

earth-love-light-child
This is a gathering to re-establish and celebrate our connection with Mother Earth. We are at a crucial point in our Earth’s history where all beings are being called to participate in the re-balancing of the Earth’s energies. Great changes are occurring on all levels, energetically and on the physical plane. We are out of balance with the planet and it is now time to change this energy. We of the human family must do our part in the healing of this Earth, on a soul level and by action. To do this we start by healing our relationship with the Mother Earth, and reestablishing our connection to all creation.

During our time together:

1. We will sit in the old ways, through counsel which we will weave a healing story of the heart with the intention of reconnecting with Mother Earth.
2. We will collectively connect on an energetic heart level and send healing to Mother Earth.
3. We will learn to have a “real” relationship with Mother Earth, and learn to communicate directly with all aspects of creation.
4. You will learn how to incorporate this connection into your daily lives.
5. We will celebrate and bring in the magical, healing energy of joy.

Please bring a small item that represents Mother Earth. We will create an altar with these sacred items to honor the gifts of this planet.
