Dance is movement, expression, and art. It has always been related to the human body, its possibilities and limitations.
Contemporary dance is a style that combines elements of several genres. It is rapidly merging with different art forms and dance styles, as well as with science, philosophy and spirituality.
The workshop will offer an introduction to contemporary dance, elements of Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Step, Street, Break Dance, Hip hop and Dance Theater. The students will get to create their own pieces of choreography which weaved together will culminate into a common performance.
About the Facilitator:
Elfi Schaefer-Schafroth is a choreographer, dancer and teacher cooperating with other artists to create uniquely expressive interdisciplinary dance theater solos. She studied dance at the Zurich School of Dance Theatre (Zuerich Tanztheaterschule), UCSD, in New York and Paris. In addition to her theater work, she collaborates in interdisciplinary projects for museums, theaters, churches and art galleries, and teaches at the Zurich University of Teacher Education.
