Walk in Gaps
A
site specific piece by Swedish dancers- Marie Klawitter and Elin
Samuelsson in residency at Zorba The Buddha. The piece explores the
process of working with different layers of time and space, questioning
the notion of stage, the role of audience and performer. The performers
explore multiple ways of perceiving the body, the present physical
reality and the awareness of each other while relating to the rich
information of the chosen sites and its nature.
Artists' Bio:
While Marie Klawitter is movement researcher, explorer of dance improvisation and instant composition from Stockholm, Sweden. With a background in ballet since childhood, she is presently using contact improvisation as a means to extend her movement vocabulary in collaboration with other dancers. Questions about how to relate to nature and the human experience are a major element in her work.
Elin Samuelsson is a swedish dancer graduated in contemporary dance from ‘Salzburg Academy of dance’, Austria in 2009. Since then, she has been creating pieces and projects in collaboration with other dancers, musicians and actors in Sweden and Denmark.
Mystical Forest
An excerpt from the Contemporary Chhau dance production by Sadhya Dance Company re-introduces the youth to the joys of being one with nature. The piece was originally choreographed amidst the natural environment of trees and water bodies at Zorba The Buddha by Santosh Nair instead of an artificial studio. So don’t be surprised to see people hanging from trees, showing off some powerful martial arts and hunting sequences.
