Moving Breath Workshop

Moving Breath is an intense personal process in which the body  is sensitized in a harmonious and holistic way through a combined experience of yoga, dance and voice.

The simple functional and mechanical act of breathing becomes transformed into a vital, dynamic and creative experience, sharpening the consciousness of the “self” and unfolding the energetic breath-body.

From breath movement arises, movement becomes stillness, silence into sound, sound returns into movement.

“Then energy is no longer separate from the essence of the one possessing it. There is eternally identification of the two, like that of fire and it’s power to burn.”

Of Indo/Celt origin, Sheila has had the privilege of working closely with great teachers in the creative arts from East and West (dance, music, theatre) and also with spiritual masters in the field of Yoga and Tibetan and Zen Buddhism. These encounters enabled her to define and her teaching methods in the system of Moving Breath, which brings together both traditional and contemporary creative techniques in yoga, voice, rhythm and dance.

Sheila was the first Indian to succeed as a contemporary dancer in the West. She founded the Chakra Centre for East West Synthesis in Southern France in 1984 where she trained teachers in the Moving breath system. Since closing down the Centre in 2002, she has been applying the Moving Breath techniques to different fields like Education, Performing Arts and also Healing.
