Contact Dance Improvisation Meditation Sunday, 23 August

Contact Dance Improvisation Meditation

contact jam banner edited

We invite all movement lovers and seekers to an exceptional evening of dance, music and improvisation amidst the mystical green gardens of Zorba the Buddha.

We will begin with introductory exercises and exploring the idea of a touch and its role in contact dance. We will be trying to unfold various qualities that a touch could have. The facilitator will help us understand how to approach our partner respectfully and how to receive touch in a comfortable way.

We will then open the space to a journey in Improvisation jam, accompanied by live music in the background. Meet our self and others in movement, communicate and co-create through our bodies and individual expressions. Awareness, listening, playfulness, curiosity and creativity will be our guides.
Please come on time to be a part of the introduction and wear soft comfortable clothes. We look forward to your presence and participation in this Dance!
*Prior dance experience not required.

About the Facilitators

Ranjan 2
Being a professional dancer, Chittaranjan’s approach to contact improvisation is very unique. He brings both technical as well as spiritual  approach to his dance. Chittaranjan combines these approaches with Safety Release Techniques & Creative Movement Therapy. He believes that the most important essence of contact improvisation is sensing and raising awareness of self and others, for it is only within that one finds freedom and connection simultaneously. He has participated in international festivals like Goa Contact Dance Festival facilitated by Angelika Doniy, Irene Sposetti and Erica Kaufman and the Nataraj Dance Festival hosted by Zorba the Buddha.

Ahai was introduced to the world of contact improvisation 8 years ago. Since then, she has been practicing it continuously and has deepen her knowledge on the technique in various international contact improvisation classes, workshops and festivals (mainly in Lithuania, Russia and the UK). The most influential for her was the opportunity to take classes from Julia Melnik (Lithuania), Daniel Lepkoff (USA), Daniel Mang (UK), Angelika Doniy (Russia), Merav Israel (UK) and Lalitaraja (UK). She practices meditation, contact improvisation, spontaneous and authentic movement, and, is a performer, teacher of dance meditation, improvisation and creative dance. Her artistic work and teaching practice is deeply influenced by her spiritual interests and development.
