Handi Cooking Workshop - A Step Towards Healthier Food

Handi Cooking
A Step Towards Healthier Food!

Clay Pot

There is a lot of talk these days, on the health issues related to environmental toxins (chemical and metal). One of the significant ways in which these metal ions get into our bodies is through our cooking pots. These metal ions, then, accumulate in the body over a period of time and disrupt the basic metabolic functioning which, in turn, causes various diseases.

In this cooking workshop, we will be exploring a natural method of cooking which dates back to ancient worldcivilisations- cooking with Handi, also known as, Clay Pots. The cooking process basically involves making the food in baked clay potsmade with unglazed or partly glazed ceramic or earthen ware.

This type of cooking  is essentially very healthy as there is a 100% nutrition retention in our food.

Why Handi/Clay Pot Cooking - The Benefits
The Food which is cooked in clay pots is synonymous with food cooked perfectly, this is because -

1. The clay vessels have the unique quality of locking in all the steam and vapour that usually evaporates during cooking, thereby retaining all the nutrients of the food
2. The food cooked in clay pot can be cooked without oil due to its natural non-stick property
3. Clay being alkaline in nature helps in neutralising the ph balance of the food by interacting with the acid present in the food, so, the foods that are naturally acidic acquire some natural sweetness
4. Clay pots retain heat better than any other cookware. Their immense heat-retaining capacity helps food stay hot longer, saving the need to heat and re-heat, thus, retaining the nutrition
5. All cookware made from clay, which is pure and natural, have no chemicals or additives
