An Evening Baithak from the Era of Mughals - Sarod & Vocal Jugalbandi

An Evening Baithak from the Era of Mughals
Sarod & Vocal Jugalbandi
Friday, 7th August 2015

We, at Zorba the Buddha, have been dedicated to presenting to you works, which are deeply embedded in tradition yet seek to reach into the infinite realms of creativity. This 7th of August, we invite you to a concert which celebrates the expressive and elaborate art of Indian Classical music.

The concert will begin with an alap or an introduction of a raga, followed by a short jod or rhythmic segments.  The artists will, then, engage in a jugalbandi or a duet recital of sarod and vocal, progressing into bandish with composition from the era of the Mughals. These rare compositions, which have short melodic and swift movements will take you to a state of trance, thereby rejuvenating you.
